3D Ultrasound is a still photograph and 4D Ultrasound is the motion picture version. In contrast with 2D ultrasound, 3D photographs provide a sense of depth. 2D ultrasound is the common, diagnostic ultrasound performed by physicians, which shows cross sectional views of anatomy, but requires greater medical knowledge and understanding of anatomy to interpret.
